Ruinen af hovedkirken St. Nikolai på Hamburger Hopfenmarkt er som mindesmærke for St. Nikolai "de ofre for krig og voldelige regimer mellem 1933 og 1945" dedikeret. Kirken blev grundlagt i 1195 og blev færdigbygget i sin sidste neogotiske udformning i 1874. Dens 147,3 meter høje tårn var fra 1874 til 1877 verdens højeste bygning.
Hovedkirken St. Nikolai blev i 1962 flyttet som nybyggeri til bydelen Harvestehude ved Klosterstern.
