Zoom Erlebniswelt i Gelsenkirchen er den omdannede tidligere Ruhr-Zoo. Ejeren af zoologisk have er byværket i Gelsenkirchen, som er et hundrede procent datterselskab af byen Gelsenkirchen.
Alaska giver et indblik i alle fire vegetationszoner af den "store" model: kystregnskoven, tundraen, bjergregionen og polarregionen. Særligheder her er blandt andet undervandsglastunnelen i sæl-anlægget, det 3.000 m² store bjørneanlæg eller Alaska Ice Adventure, en simuleret tur i et iglo på en isflage.
