Hildesheim Hovedbanegård er den vigtigste station i byen Hildesheim og tilhører stationskategori 2. Den betjenes af tog fra Deutsche Bahn, enno, erixx og NordWestBahn. Ud over regionaltog stopper der i Hildesheim også hver time Intercity-Express-tog mellem Frankfurt am Main og Berlin.
Den første Hildesheim station blev åbnet af de Kongelige Hannoverske Statsbaner som endestation for den sydlige krydsbane den 12. juli 1846 nord for den nuværende Kaiserstraße, cirka ved den nuværende Banegårdsalle. Til bygningen af banen blev også arealet af den først åbne Marienfriedhof fra 1832 inddraget. Efter bygningen af den Hannoverske Sydbane blev krydsbanen den 15. september 1853 forlænget til stationen Nordstemmen ved sydbanen. Modtagelseskontoret for den første Hildesheim Hovedbanegård var en bindingsværksbygning med et skifer-tag.
