Det Real Kloster Santa Maria de Santes Creus[1][2] er et cistercienserkloster, der blev grundlagt i det 12. århundrede, beliggende i Aiguamurcia-området i landsbyen Santes Creus i provinsen Tarragona. Det var i det 13. århundrede, under beskyttelse af Peter III af Aragonien, som udtrykte sit ønske om at blive begravet i klosteret, at det kongelige pantheon blev bygget, hvori hans søn, kong Jaume II, også blev begravet. En del af adelen fulgte denne middelalderlige skik og valgte dette sted til deres evige hvile, hvilket gav klosteret en tid med maksimal pragt og storhed takket være de mange donationer, der blev modtaget, indtil Peter IV af Aragonien i 1340 besluttede at installere monarkiets pantheon i Poblet-klosteret.[3]
