Katedralen blev i det 14. århundrede dannet ved at sammenlægge to kirker: skibet fra Saint-Étienne blev forbundet med nordside af en ældre romansk kirke. I det 15. århundrede blev et tværskib og et kor tilføjet. Skibet er det tredje højeste i Frankrig: 41,41 m. Kun Notre-Dame d'Amiens og katedralen i Beauvais er højere. Biskop Dupont des Loges' gravmonument og gravene til kardinal de Givry og ærkebiskop d'Aubusson de La Feuillade findes i katedralen.
