Knaresborough er en markeds- og kurby samt en civil parish i Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, ved floden Nidd 3 miles øst for Harrogate.
Knaresborough nævnes i Dommedagsbogen fra 1086 som Chenaresburg, hvilket betyder "Cenheard's fæstning", i wapentake af Burghshire, omdøbt til Claro Wapentake i det 12. århundrede. Knaresborough Slot er normannisk; omkring 1100 begyndte byen at vokse. Den gav et marked og tiltrak handlende til at betjene slottet. Sognets kirke, St John's, blev etableret omkring denne tid. Den tidligst identificerede Lord of Knaresborough er omkring 1115, da Serlo de Burgh besad Æren af Knaresborough fra kongen.
