Basingstoke er den største by i amtet Hampshire. Den ligger i det sydcentrale England og strækker sig over en dal ved kilden til floden Loddon, ved den yderste vestlige kant af The North Downs. Den ligger 30 miles nordøst for Southampton, 48 miles sydvest for London, 27 miles vest for Guildford, 22 miles syd for Reading og 20 miles nordøst for amtbyen og den tidligere hovedstad Winchester. Ifølge befolkningsskønnet fra 2016 havde byen en befolkning på 113.776. Den er en del af kommunen Basingstoke og Deane og en del af valgkredsen Basingstoke.
