Ifølge oplysninger fra kommunen Borger-Odoorn havde Borger pr. 1. januar 2006 4920 indbyggere (2341 mænd og 2579 kvinder). Borger er kendt for den største dyssekammer i Nederlandene, D27. I området omkring Borger findes der også 5 andre dyssekamre. Også i Borger, lige ved dyssekammeret D27, ligger det nye Hunebedcentrum.
