Formodentlig blev begyndelsen på kirken bygget i 1220. Mange år efterfulgte belejringen af 's-Hertogenbosch. Og efter faldet af den spanske fæstning 's-Hertogenbosch blev der onsdag den 19. september 1629 afholdt den første reformerte gudstjeneste i Sint-Jan. Et vigtigt øjeblik for Bosschenaren.
Diverse vigtige begivenheder har fundet sted i denne kirke, såsom delegation fra Napoleon Bonaparte, branden i 1584 og de mange restaureringer, som har bevaret kirken i dens nuværende stand. Denne hundrede år gamle kirke kan du besøge og endda bestige. Museet tager dig med gennem årene af dens tilblivelse og præsenterer enestående arkæologiske fund.
