Det ligger nordvest for Stiens og nordøst for Sint Annaparochie, i den østlige ende af Oudebildtdijk. Gennem landsbyen flyder Oude Rijd. I 2021 havde den 950 indbyggere. Under landsbyen hører også Nieuwebildtzijl til, og en stor landbrugsbedrift fra landsbyen Oude Leije falder inden for landsbyens område i Oudebildtzijl. I 1948 fik landsbyen status som landsby; før det hørte den under landsbyen Vrouwenparochie.
