Hønefoss er en by og administrativt center for kommunen Ringerike i Buskerud fylke, Norge. Hønefoss er et industricenter i indre Østlandet og indeholder flere fabrikker og anden industri. Pr. 1. januar 2008 har Hønefoss 14.177 indbyggere.
I 1852 fik Hønefoss bystatus og blev adskilt fra Norderhov. I 1964 ophørte Hønefoss med at være en selvstændig kommune og blev en del af Ringerike.
Byen er opkaldt efter Hønefossen, et vandfald på Begna-floden. Det første element er navnet på den gamle gård Hønen, det sidste element er foss, der betyder 'vandfald'. Navnet på gården er en sammensætning af et ord *hœn- og vin f 'eng'.
