Sint-Amands kann man über die Fahrradfähre erreichen. Es liegt an der schönsten Kurve der Schelde. Wenn du vom Ufer von Sint-Amands auf den Strom schaust, nehmen die Flussarmen in einer breiten Biegung die scharfe Meander. Im Hintergrund ragt aus einem Buschwald der Kirchturm des Nachbardorfes Mariekerke hervor. Es ist eine Beschreibung, die der in Sint-Amands geborene, aber französisch schreibende Autor Emile Verhaeren zustimmend bejahen würde. Er war so an die Schelde (und besonders an die Scheldebucht von Sint-Amands) gebunden, dass er dort im Schlamm des Flusses begraben werden wollte. Sein Grab liegt zwei Schritte weiter zwischen dem Schilfrohr.
