Es ist hier im Bahnhof von Bergen, dass Vincent van Gogh am 15. Oktober 1880 den Zug nach Brüssel nimmt. Er ist schwer enttäuscht. Vor zwei Jahren hatte er den Plan gefasst, das Wort Gottes an die Bergarbeiter zu verkünden. Aber das ist völlig misslungen. Er schlussfolgert: "Vielleicht habt ihr recht, dass ich auf diesem Erdball nutzlos bin."
