Es handelt sich um ein ehemaliges Kiesgrube in der Nähe der Maas, die ab 2012 in ein Naturschutzgebiet umgewandelt wurde. Es gibt große Wasserflächen, die für die Überwinterung von Wassergeflügel wichtig sind. Das Gebiet ist für Wanderer zugänglich und es wurden Einrichtungen wie Informationstafeln und Beobachtungsposten eingerichtet.
