Der Hoyoux ist ein Nebenfluss der Maas, der in Verlée in der Region Condroz, Provinz Namur, auf einer Höhe von 290 Metern entspringt. Von Modave aus fließt der Fluss durch ein tiefes Tal nach Norden in Richtung Huy (französisch: Huy), wo er auf einer Höhe von 75 Metern in die Maas mündet.
Auf diesem Abschnitt hat er die schnellste Strömung aller belgischen Flüsse. Der in Marchin zwischen 1989 und 2003 gemessene durchschnittliche Durchfluss beträgt 2,0 m³ pro Sekunde. Im Schloss von Modave gibt es eine Anlage zur Wasserentnahme für den Ballungsraum Brüssel. Pro Tag werden bis zu 80.000 m³ gefördert ( ca. 1 m³ pro Sekunde ), was ausreicht, um etwa 200.000 Einwohner zu versorgen.
Hoyoux, mit dem größten Rückgang in Belgien, ist für seine Travertine bekannt , ein seltenes Phänomen in Europa.
Das Hoyoux-Tal ist ein sehr interessantes Wander- und Fahrradgebiet , was teilweise auf die Präsenz der Ravel Lign126 zurückzuführen ist.
