Schwellbrunn ist eine politische Gemeinde und eine Ortschaft im Hinterland des Kantons Appenzell Ausserrhoden in der Schweiz.
Schwellbrunn liegt auf einer Anhöhe, einem schmalen Hügelrücken, oberhalb von Degersheim und Herisau und ist ein beliebter Ausflugsort. Schwellbrunn ist mit 972 m ü. M. die höchstgelegene Gemeinde im Kanton und bietet eine Aussicht bis ans Nordufer des Bodensees. Der Wissbach entspringt westlich, die Glatt östlich des Hügelrückens.
