Das Schweizer Kernkraftwerk Gösgen liegt auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Däniken im Kanton Solothurn an der Aare. Betreiberin ist die Kernkraftwerk Gösgen-Däniken AG. Das Werk nahm im November 1979 den kommerziellen Betrieb auf.
Das KKG war das erste Kernkraftwerk der 1000-Megawattklasse in der Schweiz. Die Bruttonennleistung wurde von anfangs 970 MW durch Ausbauprojekte erhöht . Durch wirkungsgradverbessernde Massnahmen wie optimierte Schaufeln an der Hochdruckturbine, eine verbesserte Wasserabscheidung nach der Hochdruckturbine, neue Kühlturmeinbauten mit besserer Kühlwirkung und neue Niederdruckturbinenläufer konnte die elektrische Leistung auf 1060 Megawatt gesteigert werden, ohne die thermische Leistung zu verändern.
