Die Gemeinde Titz liegt in der Jülicher Börde. Im Süden befindet sich die Sophienhöhe. Östlich und nordöstlich der Gemeinde liegt der Braunkohletagebau Garzweiler.
Am 1. Juli 1969 wurden die ehemaligen Gemeinden Gevelsdorf, Hasselsweiler und Müntz eingegliedert. Am 1. Januar 1972 kam Rödingen hinzu. Aus der aufgelösten Gemeinde Garzweiler wurden Titz 4,80 km² mit damals 763 Einwohnern zugewiesen.
