Gevelsberg ist eine Mittelstadt mit rund 31.000 Einwohnern im südlichen Ruhrgebiet in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Sie gehört dem Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis an.
Die geographische Lage Gevelsbergs ist 7° 20′ östliche Länge und 51° 19′ nördliche Breite. Das Stadtgebiet umfasst eine Fläche von 26,27 km². Die größte Nord-Süd-Ausdehnung beträgt 7,1 km und die größte West-Ost-Ausdehnung 7,15 km. Die Höhendifferenz innerhalb des Stadtgebiets beträgt etwa 200 Meter. Die tiefste Stelle liegt an der Ennepe bei Vogelsang mit 131,5 m ü. NN, die höchste Stelle am Hageböllinger Kopf mit 336,36 m ü. NN.
