Die Gemeinde Burgdorf befindet sich westlich der kreisfreien Mittelstadt Salzgitter, ost-nordöstlich des Höhenzugs Vorholz und nördlich des Höhenzugs Lichtenberge . Sie liegt nördlich von Baddeckenstedt sowie nordöstlich von Holle und südlich von Söhlde, die sich im westlich benachbarten Landkreis Hildesheim befinden.
