Fischbachtal liegt im vorderen Odenwald. Durch die Gemeinde fließt der namensgebende Bach Fischbach, der über die Gersprenz bei Stockstadt in den Main mündet. Die Entfernung zum Main ist ungefähr gleich mit der zum Rhein bei Gernsheim. Den Rhein erreicht man über die L 3102 Richtung Lautertal und die Bundesstraße 47 im Tal der Lauter.
Die höchste Erhebung ist der Rimdidim mit 498,5 m ü. NHN.
