Alzenau ist eine Stadt im Norden des unterfränkischen Landkreises Aschaffenburg. Sie ist eine von 13 leistungsfähigen kreisangehörigen Gemeinden in Bayern. Hier fand 2015 die Bayerische Gartenschau „Natur in Alzenau“ statt.
Alzenau liegt am östlichen Rand des Rhein-Main-Gebietes im unteren Kahlgrund. Die meisten Stadtteile befinden sich auf oder zwischen den Ausläufern des Spessarts mit dem Höhenzug des Hahnenkamm , welcher die östliche Gemarkung dominiert. Der westliche Gemarkungsteil weist hingegen eine flache Topografie auf und bildet den Übergang in die Mainebene mit den Nachbarorten Kahl und Karlstein.
