Die Stadt Tönisvorst liegt am Niederrhein im Westen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen und ist eine mittlere kreisangehörige Stadt des Kreises Viersen im Regierungsbezirk Düsseldorf. Sie besteht aus den beiden ursprünglich eigenständigen Hauptorten St. Tönis und Vorst – wobei Letzterer flächenmäßig den größten Stadtteil darstellt, aber weniger als ein Viertel der Einwohner beherbergt – sowie den Siedlungen Laschenhütte und Kehn.
