Monheim am Rhein [ˈmɔnhaɪ̯m] ist eine mittlere kreisangehörige Stadt im nordrhein-westfälischen Kreis Mettmann und liegt rechtsrheinisch zwischen den beiden Metropolen Köln und Düsseldorf.
Die Stadt blickt auf eine über 850-jährige Geschichte zurück und gehört als Teil der Metropolregion Rhein-Ruhr zu einem Verdichtungsraum mit über zehn Millionen Einwohnern.
