Zuffenhausen wurde 1931 nach Stuttgart eingemeindet und ist nach Bad Cannstatt und Vaihingen der von der Einwohnerzahl drittstärkste der äußeren Stadtbezirke. Das Gebiet ist seit mehr als 7000 Jahren wegen seiner guten Böden und der Nähe zum Wasser fast kontinuierlich an verschiedenen Stellen besiedelt. Der Name leitet sich wohl von einem Uffo oder Offo ab, einem alamannischen Siedler aus dem 7. Jahrhundert. Zuffenhausen wurde 1204 als Bauerndorf im Besitz des Klosters Bebenhausen erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und 1907 vom Pfarrdorf zur Stadt erhoben. International bekannt ist Zuffenhausen als Hauptsitz der Firma Porsche.
