Der Landkreis Miltenberg ist ein Landkreis im Westen des bayerischen Regierungsbezirks Unterfranken in der Region Bayerischer Untermain.
Der Landkreis Miltenberg hat im Süden und Westen Anteil am Odenwald und im Nordosten am Spessart. Beide Mittelgebirgslandschaften bestimmen fast das komplette Kreisgebiet und werden durch das Maintal getrennt. Der Main erreicht östlich von Faulbach das Kreisgebiet, wo er bis Freudenberg bzw. Kirschfurt die Grenze zu Baden-Württemberg bildet. Westlich von Freudenberg fließt der Main direkt in das Kreisgebiet nach Westen, wendet sich bei Miltenberg nach Norden und verlässt den Landkreis nördlich von Niedernberg und Sulzbach in Richtung Aschaffenburg. Die Landschaft am Main bezeichnet man hier als Untermain-Ebene.
