Bad Harzburg [bat ˈhaɐ̯t͡s.buɐ̯k] ist mit 21.926 Einwohnern die zweitgrößte Stadt im Landkreis Goslar. Sie liegt am Nordrand des Harzes und ist ein anerkanntes Sole-Heilbad. Überregional bekannt ist die Stadt für ihr breites touristisches Angebot und den traditionsreichen Kurbetrieb, ferner befand sich hier eine wichtige Wirtschaftsakademie.
Bad Harzburg – früher noch unter dem Namen Neustadt – erlangte im 19. Jahrhundert den Status eines Weltbades, das durch seine touristische Bedeutung als eine der ersten Städte in Deutschland Anschluss an eine staatliche Eisenbahn fand und in dem sich im Vergleich zu anderen Heilbädern der Bäder-Antisemitismus erst in der Weimarer Republik durchsetzte. 1931 wurde hier das antidemokratische Bündnis Harzburger Front gegründet.
