Der Westerwald ist ein deutsches Mittelgebirge. Er ist rechtsrheinischer Teil des Rheinischen Schiefergebirges und erstreckt sich über die Bundesländer Rheinland-Pfalz, Hessen und Nordrhein-Westfalen. Seine höchste Erhebung ist mit 657,3 m ü. NHN die zum Hohen Westerwald gehörende Fuchskaute.
