Der Heimstettener See befindet sich östlich von München in der Münchner Schotterebene auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinden
Kirchheim , Aschheim und Feldkirchen. Er wird bei den Einheimischen und in der Umgebung mit dem Namen Fidschi bezeichnet.
Der Grundwassersee entstand zwischen 1937 und 1938 nach dem Ende des von der Reichsbahn betriebenen Kiesabbaus auf dem Gelände. Heute ist der rundum als Erholungsgebiet umgestaltete 11,1 ha große Baggersee ein beliebter Badesee. Er ist an der tiefsten Stelle 12,5 m tief.
