Bei dem Eisenbahnunfall von Bad Aibling stießen am 9. Februar 2016 zwei Meridian-Personentriebzüge der Bayerischen Oberlandbahn auf der Mangfalltalbahn bei Bad Aibling frontal zusammen. Zwölf Menschen starben infolge des Unfalls, 89 wurden teils schwer verletzt.
Verantwortlich für den Unfall war der zur Deutschen Bahn gehörige Fahrdienstleiter, der seine Pflichten vernachlässigte und Signale falsch stellte. Er wurde wegen fahrlässiger Tötung zu einer Freiheitsstrafe von dreieinhalb Jahren verurteilt.
