Die Münsterstraße ist im Ursprung eine Ausfallstraße in der Dortmunder Nordstadt und eine der ältesten und historisch bedeutendsten Straßen Dortmunds. Sie verläuft auf ca. 2,5 km Länge zwischen der ehemaligen Stadtbefestigung, dem Burgtor und der historischen Grenze der freien Reichsstadt am Fredenbaumpark. Sie ist heute in Teilen als vierspurige Bundesstraße 54 ausgebaut. Andere Teile sind nach Neutrassierung der Bundesstraße verkehrsberuhigt oder Fußgängerzone.
