Der Bahnhof Savonlinna befindet sich in der Stadt Savonlinna, Finnland. Er liegt entlang der Bahnlinie Huutokoski–Parikkala, und die einzige benachbarte Station ist Pääskylahti im Westen. Als die Bahnlinie Savonlinna–Elisenvaara gebaut wurde, wurde der Bahnhof Savonlinna an den westlichen Rand der Stadt verlegt; dies resultierte aus der Lage des Stadtzentrums auf kleinen, verstreuten Inseln im Saimaa-See, die keinen großen Gleisanschluss aufnehmen konnten. Um die Auswirkungen dieses Problems auf den Personentransport zu mildern, wurde am 15. Oktober 1935 der Halt Koululahti auf der Nordseite des Stadtzentrums eröffnet. 1944 wurde der Bahnhof zum besetzten Halt erhoben, und 1955 wurde er in Savonlinna-Kauppatori umbenannt, um seine Lage in der Mitte der Stadt hervorzuheben.
