Sie gehört zum Arrondissement Issoire im Kanton Brassac-les-Mines.Sauxillanges liegt an den östlichen Hängen der Limagne am Fluss Eau Mère und seinem Zufluss Chaméane, etwa 46 Kilometer südöstlich von Clermont-Ferrand und gut zwölf Kilometer östlich von Issoire.
