Carvin ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 17.557 Einwohnern im Département Pas-de-Calais in der Region Hauts-de-France. Sie gehört zum Arrondissement Lens, ist Hauptort des Kantons Carvin und Mitglied der Communauté d’agglomération d’Hénin-Carvin. Die Gemeinde Carvin liegt im Norden Frankreichs, zwischen Lille und Lens. Die kanalisierte Deûle bildet die Südgrenze der Gemeinde Carvin, zu der die ehemaligen Bergarbeitersiedlungen Cité Saint-Paul und Cité Saint-Jean gehören. Auch ein Teil der Ortschaft Carembault gehört zu Carvin, daher der inoffizielle Namenszusatz -en-Carembault.
