Verneuil liegt etwa 37 Kilometer südöstlich von Nevers am Canal du Nivernais und am Aron. Umgeben wird Verneuil von den Nachbargemeinden Diennes-Aubigny im Norden, Cercy-la-Tour im Osten, Charrin im Süden sowie Champvert im Westen.
