Die Bewohner nennen sich Montfortois.Montfort-en-Chalosse liegt in der Landschaft Marensin am Rande der weitläufigen Landes de Gascogne, dem größten Waldgebiet Westeuropas, etwa 17 Kilometer östlich von Dax. Umgeben wird Montfort-en-Chalosse von den Nachbargemeinden Gamarde-les-Bains im Norden und Westen, Nousse im Osten und Nordosten, Baigts im Osten und Südosten, Gibret im Süden sowie Poyartin im Süden und Westen.
