Maroilles ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 1428 Einwohnern im Département Nord in der Region Hauts-de-France. Sie gehört zum Kanton Avesnes-sur-Helpe .Das Dorf Maroilles befindet sich im Regionalen Naturpark Avesnois, d. h., es grenzt an das Département Aisne, wo die Grenze zur Thiérache innerhalb weniger Kilometer vorbeiführt. Vor den Eroberungen Ludwigs XIV. verlief zwischen den heutigen Départements die Grenze des alten Frankreich . Dies erklärt trotz der Ähnlichkeiten zwischen Thiérache und Aisne einerseits und Nord andererseits, dass die Einheit dieser Region bis in die Gegenwart Anlass zu Diskussionen gibt. Durch Maroilles fließt die Helpe Mineure, die bei Ohain im Forst von Trèlon entspringt und weiter südlich in die Sambre mündet.
