Longwy ist eine französische Stadt mit 14.774 Einwohnern im Département Meurthe-et-Moselle in der Region Grand Est . Die Stadt gehört zum Arrondissement Briey und zum Kanton Longwy. Die Einwohner werden Longoviciens genannt.Longwy ist eine Industriestadt nahe der Grenze zu Belgien und Luxemburg . Longwy hat zwei Ortsteile: die befestigte Oberstadt liegt auf einer größeren Erhebung in einer Höhe von ca. 365 Metern ü. d. M., die Unterstadt mit einem Thermalbad liegt etwa 60 Meter tiefer am Fluss Chiers, einem Nebenfluss der Maas. Größere Städte in der Umgebung sind Esch an der Alzette , Arlon , Sedan , Bastogne , Luxemburg und Metz .
