Chablis ist eine Gemeinde im französischen Département Yonne in der Nähe von Auxerre und Pontigny. Die Gemeinde hat 2205 Einwohner , verfügt über eine Grundfläche von 38,83 km² und liegt auf einer Höhe von 140 Metern über dem Meer. Chablis liegt am Ufer des Flusses Serein.Das Chablis ist auch das nördlichste Weinbaugebiet in Burgund. Auf den Kalksteinhängen wird ausschließlich Chardonnay angebaut. Die Rebfläche verteilt sich auf Chablis und 19 angrenzende Gemeinden. Aktuell sind von den 6834 Hektar zugelassenen Landes gut 4500 Hektar bestockt. Der erzeugte Wein wird unter dem Namen Chablis vermarktet. Er ist fruchtig, trocken und von einer erfrischenden Säure. Chablis hat meist eine grün-goldene Farbe. Im Jahr 2002 betrug die Produktionsmenge insgesamt 264.175 Hektoliter.
