Die ehemalige Abtei Chanteuges, das spätere Priorat, steht an der schmalsten Stelle eines schlanken Felssporns, hoch über den Flüssen Allier und Desges, die ihn umfließen und die sich nördlich davon vereinigen. Das Dorf Chanteuges, dessen wenige ländliche Häuschen sich um den Basaltrücken gruppieren, liegt im Département Haute-Loire in der Région Auvergne etwa 30 Kilometer westlich der Hauptstadt Le Puy-en-Velay. Es besteht aus dem älteren Oberdorf La Vialle in Verlängerung des Klosters auf dem Basaltplateau und dem Unterdorf.
