"Mitenwilre" oder "Middle Farm" wird seit 974 unter diesem Namen erwähnt.
Der Weinbau war seit jeher die Haupttätigkeit des Dorfes.
Murbach und andere Klöster besaßen dort Weinberge.
Die Grafen von "Württemberg - Montbéliard" waren von dem 14. Jahrhundert bis zur
Revolution die Eigentümer.
Das Dorf hing jedoch von der Herrschaft Riquewihr ab.
Es erlebte dunkle Momente während der heftigen Kämpfe der "Poche de Colmar" und wurde 1945 fast vollständig zerstört. Es wurde seitdem wieder aufgebaut.
