Damit ist es das ERSTE Renaissance-Schloss im italienischen Stil, das in Frankreich gebaut wurde, 15 Jahre vor dem ersten Schloss an der Loire, Amboise.
Das Château d'Etelan liegt im Herzen der Region Pays de Caux Vallée de Seine zwischen den Brücken von Brotonne und Tancarville und überragt die letzte große Schleife der Seine. Das Schloss Etelan war Durchgangsstation für Ludwig XI, Franz I, Katharina von Medici, Voltaire und Gustave Eiffel. In seinem Inneren befindet sich eine der Heiligen Magdalena gewidmete Kapelle aus der normannischen Frührenaissance, die Abbé Cochet mit den Schlössern von Blois, Chenonceau oder Amboise verglich. Der Park ist ein privilegierter Ort, an dem die Umgebung seit Jahrhunderten unverändert geblieben ist.
