Die Albums du Père Castor wurden ab 1931 von Paul Faucher gegründet und geleitet. Sie wurden in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzt und sind das Ergebnis der Zusammenarbeit von Künstlern, Illustratoren, Autoren und Pädagogen. Auch heute noch gehört diese Reihe zu den Bestsellern der Kinderliteratur. Von seinen Anfängen als Buchhändler bei Flammarion im Jahr 1921 bis zur Herstellung und Verbreitung der Albenreihe Père Castor hat Paul Faucher sein Archiv bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 1967 methodisch aufgebaut und gesammelt. Seit 2017 ist das Archiv im Register Mémoire du Monde der UNESCO eingetragen, einem Programm zum Schutz des dokumentarischen Erbes. Das Archiv kann nach Vereinbarung während der Öffnungszeiten des Maison du Père Castor in Meuzac eingesehen werden.
