Northallerton ist eine Kleinstadt im Vale of Mowbray, Hauptstadt der englischen Grafschaft North Yorkshire und Verwaltungssitz des Districts Hambleton. Laut Volkszählung hatte Northallerton 2011 insgesamt 16.832 Einwohner.
Nachweislich existierte am Westrand des heutigen Northallerton auf der Anhöhe Castle Hills ein römischer Posten. Er lag damals an einer Römerstraße, die von Eboracum zum Hadrianswall führte.
