Die Stadt Zakynthos ) ist der Hauptort und Verwaltungssitz der griechischen Insel und Gemeinde Zakynthos und liegt an der südlichen Ostküste der Insel.
Die Kernstadt mit rund 9.800 Einwohnern bildete bis 2010 das Zentrum einer Stadtgemeinde, die 2010 auf die neue Gemeinde Zakynthos erweitert wurde, die die gesamte Insel mitsamt den Strofades, also das Gebiet der bis 2010 existierenden Präfektur Zakynthos umfasst. Die Gemeinde, die bis dahin bestanden hat, ist seitdem ein Gemeindebezirk , in dem die Kernstadt als Stadtbezirk oder ‚städtische Gemeinschaft‘ geführt wird.
