Dursey Island liegt an der südwestlichen Spitze der Beara-Halbinsel im Westen von County Cork in Irland. Dursey Island ist 6,5 Kilometer lang und 1,5 Kilometer breit. Die Insel ist durch einen schmalen Wasserstreifen, Dursey Sound, vom Festland getrennt, der eine sehr starke Strömung aufweist, mit dem versunkenen Flag Rock nahe der Mitte des Kanals.
Die Insel hat nur drei oder vier ständige Bewohner und ist durch die einzige Seilbahn Irlands mit dem Festland verbunden. Das Seilbahnsystem, das 2022 zur Wartung geschlossen war, wurde Mitte 2023 nach dem Austausch oder der Renovierung seiner Türme, Gleise und damit verbundene Infrastruktur wiedereröffnet.
Dursey hat keine Geschäfte, Pubs oder Restaurants. Es gab einmal eine Post auf der Insel; diese wurde jedoch inzwischen geschlossen.
