Tinian ist neben Saipan und Rota eine der drei großen Inseln des Commonwealth der Nördlichen Marianen im Pazifischen Ozean. Sie war kurze Zeit Teil der Kolonie Deutsch-Neuguinea.
Die Insel befindet sich etwa acht Kilometer südwestlich von Saipan, der größten Insel der Nördlichen Marianen, und etwa 130 km nördlich von Guam. Die Landfläche beträgt 101,01 km². Tinian ist eine recht flache Insel mit viel Grün und Stränden. Ihren höchsten Punkt erreicht die Insel im Osten mit dem Berg Lasso .
