Dieser 2,5 Meter hohe Stein wurde bei Baggerarbeiten im Rahmen der Bergungs- und Restaurierungsarbeiten des Piers entdeckt. Eine fotografische Dokumentation aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert zeigt, dass der Stein dort war.
Ihre Funktion bestand darin, die Schiffe bei der Navigation zu leiten und die Boote näher ans Land zu bringen, um zu verhindern, dass sie auf Sandbänken aufliefen oder mit den Felsen im Flussbett kollidierten.
Außer diesem Stein gab es noch weitere Markierungssteine entlang der Ufer des Flusses Ave, wie zum Beispiel den Stein, der an der Flussmündung neben den heutigen Werften zum Bau von Kriegsschiffen gefunden wurde.
