Esenyurt ist die Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Landkreises der türkischen Provinz İstanbul sowie ein Stadtteil auf der europäischen Seite von Istanbul. Esenyurt hat 686.968 Einwohner . Von 1920 bis 1938 wanderten hier Migranten aus Rumänien und Bulgarien ein, und in neuerer Zeit kommen Binnenmigranten aus Ardahan und Kars, sowie Erzurum und Artvin.
Als boomende Vorstadt Istanbuls hatte sie in den letzten Jahren ein sehr starkes Wachstum, was sie inzwischen zur zweitgrößten türkischen Stadt des europäischen Teils der Türkei machte.
