Malibu liegt an der pazifischen Küste und ist für seine Sandstrände, als Surf City USA sowie als Heimat von Filmstars und anderen Mitarbeitern der Filmindustrie bekannt. Die meisten Bewohner leben in der Nähe des Pacific Coast Highway, der die Stadt durchquert.
